EPWORTH ECO TOUR
January 2020 *dates TBD
The very first Epworth League Eco Tour to the Everglades happened at the beginning of January 2016. The group started off their adventures by going to the Smoky Mountains in Tennessee and hiking through Alum Cave.
While near the Smokies, we also went to Ripley’s Aquarium of the Smokies in Gatlinburg, Tennessee.

After the Smokies,we traveled to Savannah, Georgia and visited the bench that Forrest Gump sat upon
while waiting for a bus in the movie, Forest Gump. In Savannah,we also visited Forsyth Park,
St. John the Baptist Cathedral, and Fort Pulaski National Monument.

After Georgia,we traveled to Key Largo, Florida and spent the day on the beach at Fort Zachary Taylor Historic State Park. The group then went to the Everglades and was welcomed by manatees and crocodiles. We also
had the opportunity to hike and swim in Islamorada, and take an airboat tour in the Big Cypress National Preserve. The last two stops in Florida included snorkeling with manatees in Crystal River, and swimming
in Ichetucknee Springs State Park.

On January 15th, the adventurous group started heading back to Wisconsin, but could not resist stopping in Kentucky at Providence Canyon and going on a tour of Mammoth Cave. The group also got to go spelunking at Hidden River Cave. When we arrived back in Wisconsin,we were thankful to God for all of his wondrous creations and to be reunited with their non-moving beds!
